Wish List Kids

Wish List Kid with Laptop
“Jovan loves his new laptop!”

We love hearing from our Wish List kids and seeing the beautiful photographs they send us.  We can see in their smiling faces and in the words they write, that Mikey’s Way electronics truly help them cope as they travel on their cancer journey. It’s especially heartwarming to know that our founder, Mikey Friedman’s vision carries on in the very way he envisioned it would, helping kids cope with cancer Mikey’s Way!

We frequently hear from Child Life Specialists and Social Workers who work diligently on the front lines every day helping children and their families cope with the many challenges cancer brings.  Their work and the words they share inspire us, reminding us just how important distraction and connection can be for kids facing cancer. We are honored to work alongside such practitioners of kindness, compassion, patience, and beacons of hope. Together we can make life a little easier for kids with cancer.

Emails of Thanks from Hospitals

Emails of thanks from Child Life Specialists, Social Workers and Patient Managers in hospitals from across the country fuel our organization and remind us of the importance of what we do. Comments like this from Catherine G., Pediatric Patient and Family Resources Program Coordination, illustrate how important laptops are for kids with cancer. She wrote, “Last Friday, I had 2 teen patients express gratitude for the Mikey’s Way laptops that they received in the mail. They both brought them in to show me and were so excited! I just wanted to pass this message along to you all and say thank you for everything that your organization does for our patients.”

Or the one from Social Worker Jenna D. that expresses gratitude for what we do for her hospital’s patients. She emailed, “Thank you so much! Please send my thanks along to all at Mikey’s Way!  Your support is so impactful to our patients and their families.”

Some of Our Wish List Kids

Even in the depths of illness and the angst that a cancer journey brings, our cancer warriors and their families find time to express gratitude. Their words of thanks and their beautiful smiling faces illustrate the power of what an electronic device can bring. As one mom told us after a Mikey’s Way laptop arrived, “Thank you so much. The boredom is real! One day back to school was a dream.”

Laptops provide entertainment and connection as well as access to the classroom and school as parents often point out. Emma’s dad wrote, “Just writing to let you know that Emma received her laptop tonight! We are so grateful for organizations like Mikey’s Way during these trying times for our family. She will be able to make great use of this laptop to keep herself entertained during treatments and days she is unable to go to school.” Another mom told us, “Thank you very much we have received the laptop for Joselyn today. It will help a lot with her schoolwork and thank you very much for considering her. Bless you and the association.”
